Gary is returning to Akron after previously working at the Akron Beacon Journal as a sports reporter from 2003 to 2006, covering high school and Kent State sports. He also penned a number of enterprise pieces. "I'm so excited to return to Akron, reconnect with many of the people who make this such a spirited city. And I'm excited to continue Signal Akron's mission of delivering authoritative, trustworthy journalism. It's content that serves all Akronites, including articles, audio, photos and videos that everyone can access." He worked as a sports reporter for nearly two decades before leaving the press box to become a newsroom leader in Clarksville (Tenn.), Murfreesboro (Tenn.) and Nashville, where he most recently served as business, race and culture editor at The Tennessean. Gary is a native of New Orleans and a product of Southern University and A&M College. In his free time, you can find him cycling, playing paintball and smoking meats.
