Halfway through the year, the carousel of marketing leadership exits, arrivals, and promotions shows no signs of slowing.From CMO departures at Delta and DoorDash to Nvidia’s first-ever CMO hire, from promotions at Meta to a new chief brand officer at Chipotle, 2026 has kept the merry-go-round spinning.Here are the top marketer moves that have defined the first six months of the year, in chronological order. Pinterest Claudine Cheever succeeds Andréa Mallard In January 2026, Pinterest announced that it had tapped Amazon’s former global brand and marketing VP, Claudine Cheever, as CMO. Cheever replaced former CMO Andréa Mallard, who’d held the post for nearly seven years before leaving to join Microsoft AI in the same role. Cheever launched her first campaign for Pinterest in April, encouraging people to put their phones down and find inspiration for their boards IRL. Nvidia Alison Wagonfield joins as first CMO Nvidia formalized its marketing leadership for the first time in early 2026, as its influence at the heart of the AI economy continued to accelerate.  The chipmaker appointed longtime Google executive Alison Wagonfeld as its inaugural CMO, creating a dedicated marketing function at a pivotal moment in the company’s growth. Delta Alicia Tillman exits; Ranjan Goswami promoted In March, Delta Air Lines CMO Alicia Tillman announced plans to leave after three years in the role to pursue “broader leadership opportunities.” She finished up at the end of June, when 18-year company veteran Ranjan Goswami took on the new role of chief marketing and product officer. The marketing switch-up comes amid a broader leadership reshuffle for Delta following the retirement of longtime operations chief John Laughter, who was replaced by CFO Dan Janki. DoorDash Kofi Amoo-Gottfried departs; Tim Castree steps in In the same month, DoorDash CMO Kofi Amoo-Gottfried said he would step down after seven years. He announced the decision in a LinkedIn post, expressing his desire to spend more time with his kids before they leave for college.  Following Amoo-Gottfried’s departure, Tim Castree took on the CMO title in May, arriving from Amazon, where he was most recently vp of EU Prime and marketing. OpenAI Kate Rouch leaves; Colin Fleming tapped as CMO, business In April, Kate Rouch, the CMO responsible for OpenAI’s Super Bowl debut, stepped down to focus on her recovery following breast cancer treatment. In a LinkedIn post, the exec said: “It was a hard decision to make. But through my illness, I learned that courage isn’t always pushing harder. Sometimes it’s choosing to prioritize different things: your health, your family, your ability to be here for the long run.”  In May, OpenAI hired Colin Fleming from ServiceNow as CMO for its business unit. e.l.f. Beauty Kory Marchisotto named president; Oshiya Savur joins as CMO Also in April, e.l.f. Beauty’s longtime CMO, and the architect of its viral, tongue-in-cheek marketing, Kory Marchisotto stepped up into the newly created role of president of E.l.f. Brands. The business hired former Unilever and Charlotte Tilbury marketer Oshiya Savur as her replacement. Savur joined from global beauty incubator Maesa, where she led marketing for three years. In another shakeup, chief digital officer Ekta Chopra was appointed to the newly created role of chief technology and AI officer at E.l.f. PayPal Antonio Lucio jumps over from HP The CMO revolving door kept turning when PayPal hired HP’s veteran marketing chief Antonio Lucio as chief marketing and corporate affairs officer.  The appointment marked a sweeping restructure of the payment giant’s business and executive leadership announced April 29, and the first big move from PayPal’s new president and CEO, Enrique Lores, who was hired from HP in March. Babylist Mastercard’s Jill Cress named first CMO In May, Babylist, an online baby registry that notched 45% growth last year and hit $750 million in revenues, hired Mastercard luminary Jill Cress as its first CMO.  She’s focused on growing the brand ahead of its reported IPO plan in 2027. Measured Wellness Melissa Grady makes the CMO-to-CEO leap Former Cadillac marketer Melissa Grady Dias became the latest CMO-to-CEO success story in May when she took on the top job at healthcare business Measured Wellness. She’s leading a national expansion of the California-founded company, which uses wearable data to help patients and doctors continuously track wellness. GM Norm de Greve departs General Motors’ Norm de Greve, hired as CMO in 2023, left his post as the company’s first-ever chief growth officer in June. In a LinkedIn post, the veteran marketing executive said he would be moving on “to pursue a new endeavor,” promising more details “when the time is right.” The business has not backfilled his position.
