King & Spalding Continues Fund Finance Expansion with Addition of Kim in New York
King & Spalding added Gloria Kim as a partner in its finance and restructuring practice group. She is based in the New York office.
Kim advises borrowers and lenders on a broad range of complex financing matters. She has significant experience in fund finance transactions, including subscription facilities, NAV financings, GP financings, portfolio-level financings and other bespoke fund financing structures, as well as leveraged finance, structured credit and distressed transactions. Her clients include asset managers, investment funds, private equity sponsors, public and private companies and financial institutions.
Kim joins the firm from Proskauer Rose, where she previously practiced with Ron Franklin, Andrew Bettwy and Jin Joo, who joined the firm last month. In addition to these four partners, nine other lawyers have joined King & Spalding as part of this group. They follow the arrival of fund finance partner Chris Montgomery in New York earlier this year and the firmās addition in 2024 of a market-leading fund finance team led by Samantha Hutchinson in London.
āGloria is a highly talented fund finance lawyer who has been an integral part of many of the marketās most sophisticated transactions and has worked closely with Ron, Andy and Jin for years,ā Todd Holleman, co-leader of the firmās finance and restructuring practice group, said. āGloria brings exceptional experience across fund finance and leveraged finance transactions, deep familiarity with our clients and immediate connectivity with our growing team in both New York and London.ā
Kim added, āKing & Spalding has built a market-leading fund finance platform with exceptional momentum. The opportunity to provide top caliber service to our clients, and to rejoin Ron, Andy and Jin and other distinguished colleagues in our group while collaborating with the firmās outstanding lawyers across finance, funds, restructuring and related practices was incredibly attractive. I was particularly drawn to the firmās commitment to investing in fund finance globally and to the opportunity to broaden my experiences across both fund finance and leveraged finance matters.ā
Kim received her B.C.L./LL.B. from McGill University and her Honours B.A. from the University of Toronto (Trinity College).
