New York had the Tall Ships, Philadelphia had Independence Hall, Los Angeles had a concert in the Coliseum, Washington D.C. had traditional celebrations on the National Mall, nearby Escondido had a monumental fireworks display and Valley Center . . . may have had the best of all: a celebration of small town unity at the Valley Center History Museum. Saturday, from noon to 3 p.m., the museum and Valley Center Library joined forces to host a very special, small town observance, with live music, games and patriotic observances. An estimated 300 local residents attended.
