DAVIDSON u2013 As America prepares to commemorate its 250th anniversary, a Revolutionary War battle fought along the banks of the Catawba River continues to echo through the history of the Lake Norman region: the Battle of Cowanu2019s Ford. The dramatic story of the Feb. 1, 1781, clash was brought to life during a recent presentation hosted by the Davidson Historical Society, where living historians and reenactors recounted the pivotal encounter between Patriot and British forces during the Southern Campaign late in the American Revolution.
