Reflections on our semi quincentennial and an historic diary
As our nation was celebrating the 250th anniversary of the approval of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, researchers at the Valley Center Historical Society were reflecting on the discovery of another historic document dated a few years later. Although ancestors of todayu2019s Indians lived for thousands of years in the area we know today at Valley Center, Pauma Valley and Pala, the region was largely unknown until a party of Franciscan padres was sent on a mission to record their observations.
