Moorpark to test a new kind of open carry
Visitors could soon be able to stroll High Street with a drink in hand during some of Moorpark’s biggest festivals under a proposed entertainment zone aimed at boosting downtown businesses while limiting costs and public safety impacts. The Moorpark City Council voted 3-0 to approve an ordinance establishing a two-year pilot High Street Entertainment Zone, allowing people to purchase alcoholic beverages from participating businesses and carry them within designated public areas during city-sanctioned events. Councilmembers Antonio Castro and Chris Barrett recused themselves from the vote because of conflicts of interest.
