For more than 20 years, Laurence (Larry) Macdonald arrived early each morning to the Chenery Upper Elementary School to place traffic cones and enjoy the calm-before-the-school-drop-off storm. Directing the traffic that floods the four-way stop where Washington Street intersects with Goden Street wasn’t always easy, but it was always worth it, he said. “I’d be out there rain or shine or snow … but we always got through it,” Macdonald said, laughing.
