Milan, May 18, 2026 – NTC announces the launch in Italy of a biosimilar medicine based on aflibercept, used for the treatment of retinal diseases associated with neovascularization and edema, which are among the leading causes of vision loss in the adult population. The biosimilar received Marketing Authorization from the European Commission at the beginning of 2025, based on a comprehensive comparability exercise demonstrating a high degree of similarity to the reference product in terms of quality, efficacy, and safety, in accordance with the requirements of the European Medicines Agency (EMA). The launch in Italy follows the agreement signed with Formycon AG and Klinge Biopharma GmbH, granting NTC exclusive national distribution rights for the product. With this launch, NTC further strengthens its position in the ophthalmology segment by expanding its product portfolio.
