Milan, 22/06/2026 - Prevention remains one of the most effective tools to protect people’s health and longevity. In gastroenterology, colonoscopy plays a crucial role in the early diagnosis and monitoring of several conditions (colorectal cancer, precancerous lesions such as polyps, inflammatory bowel diseases, and other gastrointestinal disorders) that significantly impact the population. However, for colonoscopy to be as effective as possible, patients must arrive at the procedure adequately prepared. The preparation phase is often perceived as the main barrier to undergoing a colonoscopy. Complexity of use, large volumes to ingest, and poor palatability can negatively affect the patient experience and, in some cases, discourage participation in screening programs. Improving this aspect is therefore a tangible way to support prevention and enhance the overall effectiveness of the diagnostic pathway. In recent years, research has increasingly focused on developing solutions that make preparation easier, more tolerable, and more acceptable for patients. The objective is clear: reduce barriers, improve adherence to medical recommendations, and ensure optimal quality of the examination. This direction is reflected in NTC’s recent completion of the second pivotal study on Kleerkol®, which was presented during the investigators’ meeting held in Milan in May 2026. Such moments of exchange underscore the shared commitment to advancing standards and solutions that support clinical practice. Providing patients with a colonoscopy preparation that is not only effective but also simple to manage and pleasant to take represents a meaningful shift in approach: transforming what is often perceived as a burdensome step into a more accessible part of the prevention journey. Continuing to innovate in this field means placing patients and their needs at the center, helping to make prevention a more widespread and sustainable habit to enhance longevity and a healthy life. Because an effective colonoscopy always starts with proper preparation, but, above all, with preparation that people can easily complete and are willing to repeat over time for a long term prevention.
